Support for caregivers starts with the right level of care—ensuring your loved one’s needs are met while giving you the guidance and relief you need along the way.
What to Expect
At Willowbrook, our priority is to ensure each patient is compassionately cared for and treated with dignity so they reach the end of life peacefully. We also take care to ensure the patient’s caregiver or family receives the support they need to navigate this difficult time.
Willowbrook hospice care is tailored to the needs and preferences of each patient. Your loved one’s care includes:
- A Medical Director overseeing all treatment and orders
- Pain management, including medication administration by Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses
- 24/7 availability of a Registered Nurse
- Home Hospice Aides to help provide personal care and light housekeeping
- Volunteers providing companionship tailored to the patient’s interests or experiences – for example, a veteran may wish to visit with another veteran
You and your loved one may also be assisted by other team members such as social workers, spiritual counselor, bereavement coordinator, or therapists. See our team page for more information.
Grief & Bereavement
Grief is very much a personal experience. Each individual copes in their own way and in their own time.
At Willowbrook Hospice, we offer bereavement assistance over a 13-month period by experts who understand the stages of grieving.
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, of which we are a member, offers extensive information about hospice care and bereavement.
Caregiving
Willowbrook offers several levels of hospice care, depending on the patient’s needs and location:
Routine Home Care
We provide hospice wherever the patient calls home, be it a private home or a senior living or nursing home.
Respite Care
Respite care allows family caregivers to take a break. The patient is transferred to a long-term care facility. Medicare covers respite care fully for five days.
General Inpatient Care
This is for patients receiving acute care in a healthcare setting who require 24-hour nursing care.
Continuous Care
Provides symptom management for patients who are experiencing pain, uncontrolled vomiting, or other symptoms.
